Thermomix plant to plate cooking class, Perth
Whether you are following a vegan diet and are looking to expand you culinary skill set or you’ve just started your plant-based journey, this hands-on, small-group class at the Thermomix Head Office in Balcatta will inspire you to make delicious wholefood dishes at home. Gain new Thermomix recipes while learning little tips and tricks for making your cooking days easier. You’ll learn to make ten new dishes, including jackfruit nachos, tofu ‘eggs’ benedict, banana tofu ice cream, sushi, juice, and vegan cheeses. The event is also BYO, meaning you can bring along your favourite vegan tipple and enjoy a glass as you get creative in the kitchen.
Coffee and cake vegan meetup, Canberra
A Coffee and Cake Vegan Meetup is held once a month in Smith’s Alternative Cafe and Bar. It’s a great event to meet, share and enjoy good food with Canberra’s vegan crowd. Smith’s is a quirky hideaway that is a cafe and art gallery by day, with fine coffee, teas, in-house baked treats and hand-made toasted sandwiches. By night it’s a cosy bar with alternative music acts. You don’t need to be vegan to attend, however the group requests you be mindful of your company and try some vegan options for food and drink on the day.
Indian Vegan Cooking Class, Brisbane
Learn to prepare a vegan taste sensation from scratch! In this class you will learn about various spices and how to cook multiple recipes, including Cashew Nut Curry, South Indian Tomato Chutney, Mango Curry, Chickpea Curry, Indian 5 Spiced Cauliflower, Aged Basmati Rice, and Sago and Coconut Pudding. This class is hosted by Rani, who loves sharing her family's recipes with the people of Brisbane.
Aquafaba cooking class, Sydney
Learn to ‘whip up’ delicious vegan dishes with aquafaba at Aquafabulous: Chickpea Magic, a workshop at The Essential Ingredient in Surry Hills. Aquafaba – the liquid from a can of chickpeas – can be made into a miraculous egg-free meringue, creamy mayonnaise or used to make light and fluffy desserts, and is extremely easy to work with. The class is perfect for beginners and those learning the basics, as well as anyone interested in the wonders of this humble chickpea liquid. A few items on the menu include garlic aioli, mini quiches, meringues and airy chocolate mousse.
Comfort food night, Melbourne
Held at The Cornish Arms Hotel in Brunswick, Comfort Food Night is a bimonthly meetup on Wednesday nights for likeminded vegans to meet and enjoy traditional pub grub, the plant-based way. The menu includes vegan parmigiana, Hawaiian pizza, burgers and burritos, all prepared to comforting, pub-style perfection. Enjoy a drink, a meal and meet up with people from the vegan community, all of which sounds like a recipe for a wonderful Wednesday night.
Cherry on top vegan lunch, Adelaide
Adelaide Vegans is an informal group bringing together vegans and vegetarians for meals and social gatherings. This Cherry On Top Lunch is the perfect introduction for those transitioning to a vegan diet, or those who are looking to meet likeminded people over delicious dishes. The lunch will be held at Cherry Darlings Bakehouse in Forestville, an all-vegan bakery run by the people behind Veganised, who will be serving up pies and sausage rolls in addition to bakery style classics like vanilla slices and custard tarts, as well as fresh coffee and vegan ice cream.
