Nourish taste test | Pam Pam Buns - Nourish plant-based living

Nourish taste test | Pam Pam Buns

Pam Pam Buns is the passion project of Sydney culinary creative Pamela, who is on a mission to bring the flavours of her birth country Thailand to food lovers everywhere – in a form that is convenient, sustainable, and 100 percent plant-based.

In Pamela’s words, “Thai food is an aromatic experience, a way of living life through your senses, an exotic destination for your taste buds.” And, as she knows growing up in a vegetarian household, it also happens to be one of the most vegan-friendly cuisines going, with its abundance of colourful veggies, tofu, and traditional use of mock meats as a result of its Buddhist cultural roots.

Now, thanks to Pamela’s incredible cooking talents, entrepreneurial flair, and passion for all things plant-based, we can all enjoy the sensory delights of vegan Thai food with the ready-to-heat range of frozen meals and snacks from Pam Pam Buns.

The Nourish team were stoked when we received a generous bundle of their goodies, and couldn’t wait to get stuck in. With their wholesome ingredients and authentic flavours, these easy-to-prepare packs of deliciousness did not disappoint.

Here’s some of the glowing praise they received!

Nourish Digital Editor Cathy tried the steam buns in three varieties: Massaman Curry, Green Curry, and Mushroom:

“Super quick to prepare but restaurant quality, these are definitely going to be part of my weeknight repertoire from now on. They steamed up from frozen in ten mins, as per the packet instructions, and we had them with some chilli-roasted broccoli on the side. YUM! The tender puffs of wholemeal dough are generously filled with satisfying wholefood ingredients whose beautiful flavours shine through in every bite.

“After tasting these, and feasting my eyes on their social media feed, I can’t wait to work my way through the rest of Pam Pam’s extensive range.”

Nourish Editor Rachael tried two of the frozen ready meals and a selection of steam buns:

“Well if Pam Pam Buns isn’t the best kept vegan secret, I don’t know what is. I tried the Plant-based Thai Basil Pork with rice and the Thai Massaman with rice ready meals, and they are phenomenal! So much flavour and truly as good as similar meals I’ve bought from restaurants. And those steam buns… I’ve had some good ones, and these are right up there with the best, easily heated up at home.

“I’ve been clearing my freezer so I can order and fit a ready meal bundle in for work lunches. Almost there!”

Nourish Art Director Alicia tried a selection of steam buns, spring rolls and dumplings:

“If you could package happiness in a bun (or dumpling), this would be it. After trying the tasty and pillowy plant-based Mushroom Buns, the fresh and crispy Veggie Spring Rolls, and the delicious Pork and Mushroom Dumplings, I can confirm there was freshness, quality, and passion in each and every bite. Super easy to prepare, great from chilled or frozen, and an absolute flavour sensation. They are a must try!”

Brand & Marketing Manager Maddie Northey tried a selection of the frozen ready meals:

“I’ve found my go-to easy lunch and dinner with the Pam Pam Buns meals. Since going plant-based I’ve always missed some of the authentic Thai dishes I used to eat, and I can safely say that these meals fit the bill. They’re packed with flavour and have that much loved traditional taste. I was especially surprised at how fresh they were; you’d never know all you had to do to prepare was pop them in the microwave. These meals are a definite must-have in the freezer.”
